Shahrukh Khan A.K.A (SRK) is an Indian actor, Bollywood, film producer, and a famous personality in the sub-continent. The real name of Shahrukh Khan is “Abdul Rehman”, Shahrukh Khan is also known as “Badshah of Bollywood(king of Bollywood) and also “King Khan”. 

Shahrukh Khan has done unlimited work in Bollywood, he has done over 80 Bollywood movies. Shahrukh Khan is mostly famous for his acting skills and unique way to deliver dialogues.

Shahrukh is so popular in South Asia that almost every child would be aware of him. He has been awarded multiple awards including “Padma Shri” and “Legion of Honor”.

Shahrukh Khan is considered one of the most successful films stars on the planet. Shahrukh Khan also owns a production house “Red Chilies Entertainment”, he is also the owner of the IPL franchise “Kolkata Knight Riders”.

Early life and Family Education:

Shahrukh Khan(Abdul Rehman) was born on November 2, 1965, in Dehli, in a Muslim family. Shahrukh Khan’s father is “Meer Taj Muhammad”, who was an Indian Independence activist before the partition of the sub-continent. Khan's father was associated with the Indian National Congress. After the partition in 1947, Shahrukh Khan’s father moved to New Delhi. In 1959, Meer Noor got married to Khan’s mother “Lateef Fatima”. Shahrukh Khan says that his father was from Peshawar, his mother was from Hyderabadi, and his Grandparents were from Kashmir. So, he is Pathan, Hyderabadi, and a little bit of Kashmiri.  

Shahrukh Khan was born in New Delhi and also grew up there. Shahrukh Khan got his early education from Columba’s school. He excels in his studies and also participates in sports activities. He was awarded the school's biggest award “Sword of the owner”.

Family:

Shahrukh Khan was highly interested in sports, he wanted to pursue his career as a professional sportsman but unluckily, he suffered from a shoulder injury. Because of the injury, he was not able to play more. Then, as a teenager, Shahrukh started acting in many stage plays inspired by the big Bollywood actors of that time. Shahrukh Khan worked a lot in the Delhi Theatre Action Group(TAG). Khan got admission to Hansraj college for a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He completed his graduation degree from Hansraj College, Dehli, and then enrolled in Jamia Millia Islamia and got a degree in mass communication. In 1981, his father died of cancer and his mother died in 1991 of diabetes. 

Shah Rukh Khan was a Muslim but he got married to a non-muslim Hindu-Punjabi girl “Gauri Chibber”, in the Hindu traditions, their wedding ceremony was held on October 25, 1991. Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri have three children: Aryan(1997), Suhana(2000), and Abram(2013).  Her daughter Suhana served as a director for Khan’s film “Zero(2018)”, she’s also an actress.  Shah Rukh Khan says that he is a pure Muslim but he also respects her wife’s religion, his children are free to follow the religion of their will.

Film Career:

Television:

He started his acting career on television in 1992. Shah Ruk Khan first acted in the drama Dil Darya but it wasn’t on aired and then, later he acted in a television series “Fauji”, which became his acting debut, he also played the leading role in that series. Khan then started appearing in several television serials. He acted in Mani Kaul’s Idiots and in Aziz Mirza’s “Circus”.

Khan also played supporting roles in many serials including Umeed and Wagle Ki Dunya. 

First Phase:

Shah Rukh Khan started thinking of acting in films in 1991. Shah Rukh Khan’s acting was good enough that he was signed in for four films in the beginning. He moved from Delhi to Mumbai to pursue a good career in Bollywood. In June 1991, Khan started his first film shoot. 

His debut film “Deewana” was released in June “1992”. Khan earned money, award as well as popularity from the film “Deewana”, that became a box office hit. Raju ban Gaya Gentleman, Dil Ashna Hai, Chamatkar were the first few films in which he played the leading role.

Khan Played roles full of enthusiasm and many emotional roles. He played the role of a murderer in “Bazigar”, which was untraditional to Bollywood, and the role of obsessive lover in “Darr”.Khan acted with actress “Kajol” in Bazigar” and received his first “Film Fare Award”. For his film “Darr”, he was nominated for the “Film Fare award” for the best villain category. 

Second Phase:

Khan played the role of the musician in the comedy film “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa”, he proclaimed that it was his favorite role. His fans were increasing day by day. People were amazed by his acting skills, people say that “Khan acts from his heart”. For his movie “Anjaam” starring “Madhuri Dixit”, he received the award for best villain.

Khan had performed about seven films in 1995. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Kajol together appeared in the film “Karan Arjun”, which became a hit of that year.  In the same year, Khan performed one of his biggest movies, “Dil Wale Dulhaniya Lejanigy”, Co-starring Kajol.

Third Phase:

He played the role of a romantic hero who was not an Indian who fell in love with an Indian girl during a trip, this film proved him a “romantic hero”. The movie became the year’s biggest production.

Box office India declared the film as an “all-time blockbuster, it was also the longest-running movie in Indian Cinema.

He acted in four more films in 1996, but none of them became a super-hit. In 1997, he collaborate with Yash Raj to produce “Dil to Pagal Hai”, he won the third best actor award in Film Fare.

1998, he played a double role in Mahesh Chawala’s film “Duplicate”, a collaboration with Dharma production company. In the same year, Khan acted in a “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, he portrayed a college student performed a love triangle alongside Kajol and Rani Mukerji. That was the blockbuster of the 1990s.  

Fourth Phase:

His romantic, comedy and enthusiastic roles were praised a lot by audiences. He became not only popular in India but also in neighboring countries like Pakistan.

In 1999, he performed in only one film “Badshah”, that didn’t perform well. Khan started production in 1999. 

They released a film “Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani”, with Aziz Mirza, that became a commercial failure. Khan’s company name was “Dreamz Unlimited”. In 2001, Dreamz unlimited produced a new project “Asoka”, in which Khan played a leading role.

Fifth Phase:

The film performed normally at box offices. Khan closed his production company “srkworld.com”, which he started alongside “Dreamz Unlimited. The company was closed due to many losses. In December 2001, Khan got injured during a film shoot “The Power”, he was diagnosed with “Prolapsed Disc”, the injury didn’t fully recover, which became resistance in shooting many films. Due to the injury, he decreased the burden of his work annually. In 2000 and 2001, he performed two big films “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum”, and “Mohabbatein” “Amitabh Bhachan” was also performed alongside him in the two films. 

In 2002, Khan acted in one of the most famous Bollywood movies “Devdas”. Khan played the leading role of a rebellious alcoholic with Madhuri Dixit and Aishwariya Rai. Devdas was the most expensive Bollywood movie ever made. It cost about $6.6 million and earned about $11 million. Devdas won 10 film fare awards and Khan was awarded for Best Actor. 

Sixth Phase:

After the success of Devdas, Khan acted in another big movie, written by Karan Johar, Co-starring Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, and Jaya Bachan. Khan played the role of the man, who have fatal heart disease. Chalte Chalte was produced by Aziz Mirza film became successful but due to the failure of other films, Khan and Mirza Parted their ways and the Dreamz Unlimited got over.

In 2004, Sharukh Khan started a new production house “Red Chilies Entertainment”, a transformation of Dreamz Unlimited”. Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri was the producer of Red Chilies Entertainment. 

Seventh Phase:

In 2004, Red Chilies Entertainment produced a film “Main Hoon Naa”, which was based on Indo-Pak relations. In the same year, Khan played a role of an Air Force Pilot who fell in love with a Pakistani woman, Preity Zinta, the film was “Veer Zara”. The worldwide gross of “Main hoon Naa” was $9 million and of “Veer Zara” was  $12 million. 

Eighth Phase:

In 2005, Shah Rukh Khan acted in a fantasy drama by Amol Paleker “Paheli”. In 2006, he played a role in a story in which a couple gets involved in extramarital affairs in New York. Many big names were featured in the movie including Amitabh Bachan and Priety Zinta. It emerged as the biggest movie of that year. The movie earned more than $15 million worldwide. 

In the same year, Shah Rukh Khan made a remake of Amitabh Bachan’s film “Don”, which was released in 1978.

In 2007, Khan played a movie “Chak De! India”, in which he played a role of a hockey player as Shahrukh Khan was associated with sports since his University life, he played the role beautifully and won a film fare award.

In 2008, Khan collaborated with Aditya Chopra in a movie “Ra Ny Bana Di Jodi”.In 009, Khan got injured and had an Arthroscopic surgery in February 2009. In 2010, Khan made a film “My name is Khan”, in collaboration with Karan Johar and Kajol.

Ninth Phase:

 My Name is Khan became of the biggest grossing films in domestic and foreign cinemas. Khan earned his eighth film fare award for that movie. 

In 2011, Khan made a sequel to the film Don(2006), Khan did some tremendous stunts himself. In 2012, Khan did only one movie with Katrina Kaif and Anuska Sharma. That was a Yash Chopra film and the name was “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”.

In 2013, Khan was starred in the comedy movie “Chennai Express”, by Rohit Shetty. The film received some criticism but it broke many box offices and left many big films of that year behind including 3 idiots. 

Khan was starred in “Happy New Year”, which was an action and comedy film by Farah Khan, he co-starred with Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachan. Next, Khan acted alongside Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan in “Dilwale”. Khan played a dual role in the film “Fan”, which was released in 2016, was an action thriller movie. 

Tenth Phase:

In 2017, Khan played a leading role in Rahul Dholakia’s crime and action movie “Raees”, co-starring Pakistani actress “Mahira Khan”. The film earned $41 million worldwide and became a moderate success. In the same year, When Harry Met Sejal was released in which Khan played a romantic role with Anushka Sharma. The film was produced by Imtiaz Ali but was a flop. 

In 2018, Khan reunited with Katrina Kaif in the film “Zero”, produced by Anand L Rai. 

Production House:

Shahrukh Khan first started the production” Dreamz Unlimited”, then, he transformed the Dreamz Unlimited in Red Chilies Entertainment with his wife Gauri. Red chiles Production has produced about 9 films since 2015. Shah Rukh Khan is always involved with somehow in his film, either in a leading or a supporting role.

Hosting Career:

Khan has also hosted several shows. He has hosted many film fare award shows, screen awards, zee cine, and many others. In 2007, he also hosted Amitabh Bachan’s “Kaun Bane Ga Crorepati”, for a season.

In 2008, he used to host a show “Kya aap Panchvi Paas Sy Tez Hai”. In 2011, he appeared in “Zor Ka Jhatka”, and In 2017, he hosted a talk show “ted talks India Nayi Soch”.

Ownership of KKR:

IPL is the Indian local premier league, there are 8 teams in it and Shah Rukh Khan is the owner of one of those teams “Kolkata Night Riders”. The brand value of Khan’s KKR is about $75 million.

Khan also gave many performances in the opening ceremonies of IPL, with co-stars, Deepika, Katrina Kaif, and others.

There is no doubt that Shah Rukh Khan is a man that is recognizable by billions of people and has a great fan base. He made a huge career in the Indian industry through hard work and passion.
