PCB has announced the central contract of Men’s
cricket team a few weeks ago. I will start with the words of Wasim Khan: “The
equalization of match fees means that all players who walk out together to
represent Pakistan will receive the same match fees irrespective of which
category they are in, or whether they have a central contract or not”.
The
list of the men’s Pakistani cricket team has been finalized by the panel of PCB
which comprises Chief selector “Muhammad Wasim”, Nadeem Khan, Head coach
“Misbah Ul Haq”, Captain “Baber Azam”, Director-international cricket, Zakir
Khan, all of these were the part of the panel. The list was shared with the
Chief Executive Wasim Khan before approving by the Chairman of PCB “Ihsan
Mani”.
PCB
has Announced the central contract list on performance-based. The match fee in
all formats has equalized. The limit of the contract is between 1 July 2021 to
30 June 2022. The number of the players has reduced to 21-20 players.

25 percent increase in category A to C retainers;
the retainers of the emerging category has increased by 15%, the match fees has
equalized.

Shahnwaaz Dahani, Usman Butt and Usman Qadir
offered emerging contracts.

cricket team has been divided into four categories:

A:
Category comprises of Captain Babar Azam, Muhammad
Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hassan Ali.
Category
B:
Fakhar Zaman, Fawad Alam, Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf,
Yasir Shah and Shahdab Khan are including in B category.
Category
C:
Imam Ul Haq, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Hasnain, Abid Ali,
Sarfaraz Ahmed, Muhammad Nawaz and Nauman Ali are in Category C.
Emerging
Category:
Usman Qadir, Imran Butt and Shahnawaz Dahani are
including in Emerging category.
Increase
in A: 25%
increase in category A retainers (No increase in all formats)
Increase
in B:
25%
increase in category B retainers (T20 match fee increased by 25%, Test Match
fee increased by 15% and ODI match fee increased by 20%)
Increase
in C: 25%
increase in category C retainers (67% math fee increased in T20 match fee, 34%
increase in Test match fee and 50% increase in ODI match fee)
Increase
in Emerging: 15%
increase in emerging category retainers (67% increase in T20 match fee, 34%
increase in Test match fee and 50% increase in ODI match fee).
Hassan Ali was missed last year due to the injury but
he is in this year due to his outstanding performance in 2020-21. In 2019-20,
Hassan Ali was in category C but this year, his is in category C.
Due to their performances in 2020-21, Faheem Ashraf,
Muhammad Nawaz and Nauman Ali has also been offered central contract.
Youngsters Imran Butt and Shahnawaz Dahani are in
emerging category. Last year, Haris Rauf and Muhammad Hasnain were in emerging
category but this year they have promoted to Category C.
The Main Players which are missing out of the list of
the PCB’s central contract of men’s cricket team are Asad Shafiq, Imad wasim,
Muhammad Abbas, Naseem Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shan Masood and Usman Shinwari.

Khan:
“In
the new list, we have seen eight new players emerge who have now gained central
contracts. Due to the competitive nature of the central contract system nine
players who had contracts in 2020-21 have of the occasion. The door remains
firmly open for these players and they will continue to remain in the plans of
the selectors of the team”.
“Despite
the challenging economic climate, we Pakistani cricket board believe that it is
so necessary to improving the central contract of the Pakistan Cricket team
every year. In the last two years, we have seen significant progress in central
contract payments and we will remain committed to the principle of improving
the value of contracts within years.”
These
were the details of the central contract of the men’s Pakistan Cricket team. I
think it is good that Pakistan is bringing emerging talent to the team rather
than the players who have been playing since last 10 years in the team and
their performance is nothing.
